Bcomm (UNSW) 1960
Born in Vietnam, Vũ Nhị-Thủy was the first woman to graduate from UNSW Faculty of Commerce (now UNSW Business School), graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce on 8 April 1960. Part of an early cohort of students to study at UNSW on a Colombo Plan scholarship, Nhị-Thủy returned to Vietnam to work from 1963-1968. She worked in Singapore for some years before relocating to Brisbane after the Vietnam war ended in 1975. There, she became a high school teacher while bringing up four children. A valued community member, she worked for the Vietnamese Women’s Association Qld then as a Community Police Liaison Officer until her retirement in 2007. Grateful for her life and family, Nhị-Thủy says she is “still remembering those days at uni, in and out of classrooms with smiles on my face, with hundreds of talented young men and women around me!”
