Marija Jovanovich is a military test pilot and currently the RAAF’s most senior female pilot. Jovanovich joined the RAAF in 2001 and studied at UNSW Canberra at the Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA), graduating in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science and a University Medal in Physics. After graduating from ADFA, Jovanovich attended the United States Air Force Test Pilot School and became the first Australian in 25 years to complete the course. In December 2020, she assumed command of No. 10 Squadron, becoming only the second woman to lead an RAAF flying squadron and in 2021 was awarded the Duke of Gloucester Cup for the year’s Most Proficient Flying Unit.
