Dr. Jennifer Saunders is an esteemed sports physician specialist. She has played an instrumental role breaking down gender barriers in sport and has been a trailblazer in the advancement of sports medicine. Saunders’ enthusiasm for sports began early, representing UNSW in sports such as water polo, squash, cricket, basketball and hockey (of which she was made an Honorary Life Member in 1981). She established the first private Sports Medicine Centre in Australia in 1980 and has since worked as a Medical Officer for the Australian Olympic Team, in Barcelona in 1992 and Athens in 2004. In recognition of her outstanding contributions to the field of sport medicine, Saunders was awarded the Order of Australia Medal in 2000.

Saunders graduated from UNSW with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 1978. She currently serves as Member of the Research Committee at the Australasian College of Sport and Exercise Physicians.
