The Hon Gabrielle Upton, born 16 December 1964, is a renowned Australian politician, lawyer and banker who, in 2015, became the first woman to be appointed NSW Attorney General. Acclaimed for her noteworthy contributions to Parliament, Upton’s extensive career has seen her as Parliamentary Secretary to two Premiers, appointed Minister of six portfolios and deliver on Governmental initiatives such as ‘Return and Earn’. Prior to her Parliamentary career, Upton served as UNSW Deputy Chancellor from 2006 to 2009 and on the Council from 2002 to 2010, during which she mentored senior academic women through the UNSW’s Academic Women in Leadership Program.
Upton graduated from UNSW with a Bachelor of Arts in 1986 and a Bachelor of Laws in 1988. She currently serves on the Advisory Committee for the NSW Pathways to Politics program based at the UNSW Faculty of Law and Justice and supported by the Trawalla Foundation.
