Dr Morrison was an elected representative of the academic staff through most of her career at UNSW and was the first woman to be elected President of the Academic Board in 1992. Prior to this, she was the first woman elected President of UNSW’s Staff Association, serving from 1980-1982. In 1988 Dr Morrison was then elected as the first Deputy President of the Board. She remained in the role until her appointment as President of the Academic Board. In January 1994, Dr Morrison became UNSW’s first woman Pro-Vice-Chancellor. Following many years of service at UNSW (1975 – 2000), she was made an Emeritus Fellow of the University in 2008. Dr Morrison was Head of the School of Spanish and Latin American Studies in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and served on many University committees during her time at UNSW.
