Dr Dagmar Schmidmaier AM graduated from UNSW Business school in 1985 with a Master of Librarianship (Information Science) and went on to teach in the area for many years, including nine years as a Senior lecturer and Head of Department at UTS. Dagmar was the State Librarian and CEO of the State Library of New South Wales from 1995-2006 and is a Fellow of the Australian Library and Information Association. For the past 13 years, she was the director of the highly successful Chief Executive Women Leaders Program which was designed to inspire women to take on senior leadership roles. The innovative program has been offered across Australia and Singapore and saw 1300 women graduate under Dagmar’s leadership. As of 2022 Dr Dagmar Schmidmaier is the publishing and business brand specialist at The Book Adviser and Director of The Thinking Woman & Co. Dagmar was awarded an honorary Doctor of Letters from UNSW in 1999 and received the Alumni Award for Arts/Law in 2006. She was awarded a Centenary Medal in 2003 and an Order of Australia in 2004 for service to librarianship, particularly through the application of new technology and information systems and in the areas of administration and education.
