BFA (UNSW) 1991
Born in Chile, Clara’s family emigrated to Australia in 1971. Clara attended Paddington Art School at the age of 14 and completed a Bachelor of Fine Art majoring in painting and drawing at UNSW’s College of Fine Art (COFA) in 1991. She was the first woman to receive a degree at COFA’s first graduation ceremony on 10 May 1991. After further years of practice and study at a range of Sydney art institutions, Clara took a break from art after the birth of her son in 2003 and worked in corporate finance for some years. She returned to pursue her love of drawing in 2017 and founded a Coogee based art studio, Lighthouse Art Space, in 2020.
