Making a difference to the health of women, children and vulnerable teenagers.
Bronwyn has 45 years of experience in local general practice and has made a significant difference to the health of NSW women and children across several generations. In addition to her regular work, she founded and ran a medical service for homeless women and women with children at Lou’s Place, Darlinghurst, from 2000 to 2012.
In 1998, Bronwyn was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for her service to youth in NSW. As a member of the NSW Child Death Review Team, she now serves as a review officer at the NSW Ombudsman’s Office. She has also been chairperson of the Commonwealth Ministerial Advisory group, Australian Council for Children and Parenting, and is on the Scientific Advisory Board for the Australian Parenting Website. Bronwyn has contributed to several peer-reviewed publications and has been involved in key studies like the WHO Burden of Disease (Child Sexual Assault Study) and the Asthma Follow Up Integrated Care Initiative.
From 2008 to 2015, Bronwyn was an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at Notre Dame University and taught child protection courses for the NSW Department of Community Services (now FACS). She also volunteered with Guides Australia, both locally and at the State and National levels, from 1989 to 2018. Since 2015, she has been a wildlife carer with Sydney Wildlife Rescue. Bronwyn is also a proud mother of two adult children, both UNSW alumni.
Bronwyn graduated from UNSW Medicine in 1976 and received a UNSW Alumni Award for her services to medicine and health in 2015.
